AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE), part of AGP Group, has announced the acquisition of Eden Sustainable (Eden), one of the UK’s leading developers of renewable energy solutions.

Eden is a trusted developer in the UK commercial and industrial (C&I) renewables market and, as part of this acquisition, will retain its established brand, experienced team and head office in Exeter. ADE will provide strategic support to the business, working with the team to accelerate the delivery of a strong combined pipeline. ADE will also continue to provide PPA funding to more than twenty renewables developers across the UK and Europe.

John Behan, CEO of ADE, commented: “The C&I renewables market is maturing fast, which means that proven project development and delivery capabilities have real value. We have invested in a number of projects delivered by Eden over the past year and have been hugely impressed with the team’s reliable and efficient approach to project delivery”.

“This acquisition will allow ADE to support more of our partners with Eden’s development capabilities, as well as expand our upfront sales and project delivery capabilities to meet growing demand for onsite renewable solutions. We look forward to working closely with the Eden team, who share our vision of helping business customers reduce energy costs and simplifying their path to net zero. We are particularly pleased to retain the rich experience and industry expertise of Steve Baker, Eden’s founder, who will remain with the business in an advisory capacity over the next three years.”

Eden, a certified B Corp, provides renewable energy and energy storage solutions for both public and private sector organisations. From cold chain warehouses to multi-academy school trusts, the business has an award-winning approach to customer service, project execution and delivering positive environmental impact.

Eden will continue to be led by Jamie Brimblecombe and Justin Leger, as joint Managing Directors. Having been part of the senior leadership team for Eden for more than 7 years, the pair have proven influential in the company’s continued growth.

In a joint statement, Jamie and Justin said: “We have seen the significant impact that ADE has had on the marketplace by making the adoption of renewables an easy win. By de-risking the funding and development process, ADE is helping businesses to realise the full potential of renewables – quickly and with confidence.”

“The investment from ADE will ensure that our commitment to quality, customer care and environmental performance can continue to have a positive impact on our customers. We look forward to an exciting future under their ownership.”

Steve Baker, who co-founded Eden Sustainable alongside Scott Burrows concluded: “Scott and I are incredibly proud of what we have collectively achieved since 2014, with Eden playing a meaningful part in helping the C&I renewables industry to grow, while winning many awards along the way. Looking ahead, the opportunities for Eden to continue to deliver a positive impact are greater than ever and the backing of ADE will prove transformative in this.”

Working with a trusted network of channel partners, ADE has developed an extensive portfolio of solar assets since its inception in January 2024, with more than 50MW of contracted renewable energy generation capacity across more than 50 sites nationwide.

Delivering green energy solutions with no upfront costs through innovative power purchase agreements (PPAs), ADE helps businesses to reduce energy costs and decarbonise their operations. By combining global scale with local expertise, the business makes it simple – and profitable – to go green.
