Serge Levkovich is an automotive entrepreneur and exotic car expert from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). For 18 years, he was General Manager of Caliber Motors Ltd., an auto repair business and pre-owned car dealership in Etobicoke, a Toronto suburb. He earned a reputation for premium customer service, specifically related to luxury car procurement and service. Always a consummate professional, Serge Levkovich is known for building loyalty and trust through a personalized approach for each of his customers.
Q: What initially inspired you to pursue a career in the automotive industry, specifically focusing on luxury and exotic cars?
Serge Levkovich: I’ve always been fascinated with high-performing cars. I studied how they worked as a kid and practiced on some junkers. I learned from people around me, from books, trade magazines, but mainly from trial and error. And now I’ve built my career from that original interest. I developed an expertise, and it just seemed logical. I’ve been lucky enough to focus on the most innovative, high-end cars in the world.
Q: What strategies do you employ to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty?
Serge Levkovich: In this business, the happiness and satisfaction of the customer is everything. You have to get to know them as people and build a relationship with them, learn what they need from your services, and what they want from a car. Then, once you deliver on both of those, you develop a sense of loyalty, and that relationship lasts for many years. When someone has a specific, urgent request, like ‘I need such and such model with such and such features and capabilities, and I need it in two weeks’, and you come through for them, they’re going to come back for their next purchase. The same holds true for repairs. When you do great work for a fair price, and you’re upfront, honest, and transparent, you’ll have loyal customers.
Q: What trends do you foresee in the exotic car market in the next few years?
Serge Levkovich: It’s the innovations around luxury electric vehicles. With charging infrastructure improving, the market is such that every manufacturer is jumping on board. Demand is only increasing. People want to save on gasoline and help the environment. Particularly the more high-income consumers, who tend to be more intentional about their purchasing power. They want high-luxury, high-performance, all-electric vehicles, and the industry is scrambling to meet that need.
Q: What are you most proud of achieving during your time at Caliber Motors?
Serge Levkovich: I’m happy to say that we built a long list of satisfied clients who gave us repeat business. Many of those clients are people I now call my friends. To me, that’s a reflection of a job well done and a career well spent.
Q: Do you have any advice for people aspiring to a career in the luxury car industry?
Serge Levkovich: My advice is to know everything there is to know about the trade. Read the magazines, the trade publications. Commit all the specs to memory, where all they all come from and who manufactures them. Learn all the quirks and qualities of every make and model. When someone poses a question to you, you need to have the answer there immediately, and you’ll earn their trust. Nothing impresses a customer like the command of knowledge. When you combine that with a friendly demeanor and professional service, there’s no better currency in this business.
