Leading multi-use developer, Rockwell, has marked a significant milestone with the start of construction on its landmark 3.2-acre luxury riverside development, Hurlingham Waterfront. The development, which sits on the site of an old Curry’s superstore, is set to completely rejuvenate 150 metres of waterfront, rendering it a destination in its own right.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday 8 September and was attended by the wider project team as the first spade was put in the ground by Rockwell Founder, Donal Mulryan. Also present was Julie Cavanagh, Director of SEAPIA (Sands End Associated Projects in Action).
Rockwell announced at the ceremony that it will be investing in the local area and community throughout the construction of Hurlingham Waterfront, beginning with SEAPIA – a charitable organisation which provides a safe play environment for local children from less advantaged backgrounds. As part of its commitment, Rockwell will build a waterproof outdoor play area, which will allow the children to continue playing outdoors when the weather turns.
This continues Rockwell’s ethos of going far beyond development obligations to reach into communities and leave an additional positive legacy. At their previous regeneration project, Vetro, Rockwell trained over 300 local Tower Hamlets women in hospitality skills, to help them find employment. They also raised money for the local football team, Westferry FC.
Hurlingham Waterfront is a riverside development which will offer 269 beautifully designed apartments, complete with private outside spaces and over 39,000 square feet of sustainably planted gardens. These gardens, along with roof-planted meadows, are designed to transform acres of hardstanding into a green space where biodiversity can thrive in Central London.
The development offers an incredible range of choice for buyers, with over 90 residency types. Hurlingham Waterfront’s onsite amenities will be some of the best in London, with a 19m swimming pool, luxury spa facilities, a state-of-the-art gym, generous co-working facilities, cinema room, 24-hour concierge and pet grooming facilities among them. Set within one of London’s most sought-after postcodes, SW6, the development is also in close proximity to some of London’s finest shops, restaurants, bars, galleries and green spaces in ‘one of London’s leafiest boroughs’.
Donal Mulryan, Founder of Rockwell said: “We are excited to transform this space and to give it a new purpose with over 260 new homes. Our project will not only bring new homes, but also breathe new life into the 150 metres of riverfront that borders the site, creating a brand new space for the community, with rewilded spaces reintroducing greenery and wildlife.
As with all our developments, we are going beyond the building, reaching into the local community to leave a legacy and create meaningful benefits. We are proud to announce our support of SEAPIA – an amazing charity that does so much for the local area and the children that live here.
First completions at Hurlingham Waterfront are scheduled for Q3 2025. Prices start from £595,000.
