Summit Materials was founded in 2009 with significant funding from private equity firm Blackstone Incorporated. Working in the construction materials sector, from the beginning Summit Materials launched a roll-up strategy, growing through a series of acquisitions until 2015, when it became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchanges (NYSE:SUM).

Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a long-term service agreement for two years with ContourGlobal, a global energy provider based in the U.S. The agreement covers the company’s Cap des Biches power plant in Dakar, Senegal.
